A lot of us would like to have financial freedom.
However, most of us have the wrong idea or definition of financial freedom.
You see, financial freedom is not having enough or more than enough money to be financially stable.
As Christians, our definition of financial freedom should be “freedom from the control of your finances.”
Let me explain to you what this means.
People would like to gain material wealth.
In the process, people start to become slaves to their money.
Instead of them owning money, money owned them!
That’s why, if you are not careful, you can easily become a slave to your money.
Remember what Yahshua (Jesus said)?
“No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Luke 16:13)
So, how can we be sure that we don’t become a slave to money?
There are three things you need to do with your money and remember to do this in exact order.
Here they are:
Give
Save
Spend
When you put giving on top of your money priority, you start becoming a master of your money and not the other way around. Giving tithes and offering is a good start to learning how to give.
Next is to save. Life is full of unexpected twists and turns. You must make sure you save, whether in a form of savings accounts or investments, be sure to save not just for you, but for others.
Finally, spend what is left. That’s when you become more responsible with your money.
You see, these three things are just a general principle I want to share with you. The principle is there. We must prioritize giving to God and others to avoid being slaves to money.
How about you? How do you spend your money? Does it bring glory to God or not?
