Three lessons we can learn
So, what are the lessons that we can learn from John 4:31-34? There are a lot and this blog won’t be enough to list all of them. However, let me just share with you the three most vital lessons that we should be reminded of.
Lesson no. 1: We will spiritually die without eating spiritual food.
It is a fact that we humans will not last a month without food. We won’t also last even a week without water.
So imagine if you don’t eat Jesus’ special diet on a daily basis. You will get spiritually weak and won’t have the strength to do God’s work.
If you continue on with your life without eating Christ’s spiritual food, then you will ultimately suffer from spiritual death.
Lesson no. 2: We must do God’s will in our lives.
Jesus specifically mentioned that His meat is doing God’s will. But what exactly is God’s will? Here are some of the few verses that mentioned the will of God.
I Thessalonians 5:14-18
“Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
I Thessalonians 4:3-6
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.”
I Peter 2:15
“For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.”
Lesson no. 3: We need to do God’s work.
The work of God is preaching the gospel. Proclaiming His word throughout the world is at the forefront of the Christian cause. We should never let a day pass by without doing the work of God. We should always be on our feet in spreading, sharing, and living the gospel of God.
Conclusion
Now that you know Jesus’ special diet, will you eat of it? Like eating physical food, consuming the special diet of Jesus Christ is a MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH.
Will you eat it and live? Or ignore it and spiritually die? The choice is yours.
